New eyewear line honors Olympic legacy with 18 handcrafted styles inspired by 1904 gold medalist August Erker
ST. LOUIS, MO — September 1, 2025 — Erker’s 1879 will debut its Gold Medal Collection at Vision Expo West 2025, introducing a new line of eyewear inspired by the Olympic legacy of August Erker, a 1904 gold medalist and member of the founding family.
The collection draws from a defining moment in both family and city history. August Erker, brother of founder A.P. Erker, competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis, where he won gold as a member of the U.S. rowing team. The Gold Medal Collection honors that legacy, reflecting values of dedication, endurance, and precision.
“Our heritage continues to guide us as we create today’s collections,” said Co-Owner Tony Erker. “The Gold Medal Collection is inspired by the spirit of strength and discipline that August Erker displayed.”
The collection introduces 18 new models, each available in four colorways, expanding the brand’s offering of heritage-driven designs rooted in craftsmanship and performance.
“As fifth-generation owners, Tony and I often reflect on the history that built this company,” said Co-Owner Jack Erker III. “Knowing that our great-great-great uncle won Olympic gold in 1904, in our hometown of St. Louis, remains a powerful reminder of the standard we strive to uphold.”
